  Summary
The University of Granada has suffered its ups and downs during its more than 450 years' existence but has always been the focal point of scholarship and learning in the city, to such an extent that Granada can be called a true university city, like Oxford and Salamanca for example, where the university and its colleges and annexes extend throughout the city and its influence is felt in all walks of life.
  Statistics
The university has 60,000 students, including more than 2,000 foreign visitors, 3,000 teachers and 1,500 administrative staff, and during the academic year all these scholars and students contribute enormously to the hustle and bustle of daily (and nightly) life in the city, with its resident population of about 250, 000 inhabitants.
  Semesters/Dates
The dates for the academic year are as follows:

From the beginning of October to December 22 (Christmas holidays)
From January 9 to Easter, according to when it falls, (one week's holiday)
From Easter until June (final exam period).

Dates for quatrimestral courses are from October to January and from February to June.

  Tuition and fees
The monthly expenses of a foreign student can range between 60,000 and 70,000 ptas (360.607 to 420.708 Euros) per month.
  Housing
The University of Granada provides a lodgings service, which collects all the information available about various types of lodgings facilities in the city and puts it at the disposal of all university students.

Types of accomodation available are:

-University Residences:
As their name implies, these centres are either owned by or approved by the university and offer full board and lodging (either single or double rooms).
  Visa Requirements
Citizens of the European Union are entitled to travel freely and to reside in Spain for three months without any special requirements.

If you stay in Spain longer than three consecutive months, you must apply for a Student Card allowing you to reside legally in Spain.
