Erasmus University Rotterdam is an institution of higher education and research. This government sponsored University, named after the humanist Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus (1469-1536), was created by the merger (in 1973) of the former Nederlandse Economi-sche Hogeschool, founded in 1913, and the Rotterdam School of Medicine, founded in 1966. At present the university numbers some 15,000 graduate students and 3,200 staff members.

  Housing
The Information Centre for International Relation's Housing Department arranges suitable accommodation for foreign guests visiting or studying at Erasmus University. The ICIR has furnished rooms and apartments at its disposal, both especially built for foreign guests and in the private sector.
  Visa Requirements
Students who wishg to stay for a period of more than 3 months need to request a MVV at the Dutch embassy in their home country prior to arrival in the Netherlands.
