I am an inexperienced traveler. The management at Cali Plaza speaks English and was very helpful. Cali Plaza is located in the best and most convenient area of Cali, in the north of the city near the business and entertainment areas. There are many discos and restaurants just out the front door. You can rent or buy an apartment there, or you can rent a hotel room. Cali plaza is a combination of Apartments and Hotel rooms all in one building. A unique ideal I like. It is not too large, but is very modern and nice.

The Hotel Maria Victoria is situated right in the old centre of Cali close to Plaza de Caycedo and within easy walking distance of other attractions museums etc. The building is nearly 100 years old and admittedly it could do with a fresh coat of paint inside and out and a few renovations. But if your like me and you love balconies where you can watch life go by from the safety of your room then you'll love this place. The corner rooms have 3 balconies!!!!!!!!I know it's hard to believe and all this for 18,000 pesos (US$8). There are rooms with less balconies for around 12,000 pesos (US$5). I stayed here a long time and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. There is also a very cheap good restaurant opposite the Hotel that is open late everyday, even on Sundays!!!!!

There is a cool view over Plaza de Caycedo, the center of Cali, from the rooftop restaurant of the Hotel Royal Plaza. It's open most of the time and the restaurant is good too.
