"Rathausplatz"

The Rathausplatz (Town Hall Square) is the space in front of Vienna's town hall. From mid-November to Dec. 24, there is the "Christkindlmarkt" (Xmas market), with a huge Xmas tree, and dozens of booths selling the cheesiest stuff imaginable, as well as various kinds of food and Glühwein and Punsch (two different kinds of alcoholic hot drinks). In February, an ice skating rink is mounted right next to the town hall, and again there's food and drink. All thru July and August finally, there is food and drink again (this time int'l), in addition to performances (classical music; each night audio only in the interlude, then a projection on a huge screen, mostly either an opera or a concert).
Pros: Unique events, each in its own way
Cons: Crowded, expensive; in winter: freeze-UR-toes-off
