The Colton House: "Your home away from home..."

written: 27 October 2000
It's actually one of the pricier places to rest your head at night in Belize City, but is still quite a bargain for what you get. Plus, how can you refuse their welcoming motto - 'Our home is your home.' The Colton House is an inn located in the historical Fort George area of the city, a three minute walk from the water. The house is an old colonial, surrounded by a wrap-around porch with plenty of places to perch. The rooms come in varying sizes, but are open, clean, and have separate entrances. You can get cozy with Alan and Ondina, the owners, at night in the living room - where there is a virtual library of Belize info - from videos to books to magazines. If you have to stop in Belize City for a night or two, this is a good deal for a comfortable night's sleep.

Pros: clean, comfortable, safe area
Cons: not the cheapest, but still a good deal
Rating: 3/4
Details: on Cork Street in the Fort George area 501-2-44666 http://www.coltonhouse.com/index.html
