Fu Shan Mart: "Elegant Shopping"

written: 04 January 2003
There's a place called Fu SHan Mart or Trust Mart in Xiamen. It is almost similar to Walmart but is much more elegant. You get to have a shopping cart where you can go with it wherever you want. The first floor are some restaurants (the food is great), ladies wear and accessories; the second floor are bags, men's wear, kid's stuff, electronics and household. THe third floor is a big grocery store, and the fourth floor is a big bookstore and CD store. Its products are I think has better quality than Walmart's but the staff are unnicer than Walmart's. But, it offer cheap products, well, cheaper than what it is selling in my country.

Pros: cheap and elegant
Cons: staffs are not that friendly
Rating: 3/4

Zhong Shan Park: "A Park in the Center of Town"

written: 04 January 2003
There is this big park I've heard about and been wanting to visit for 2 years now, fortunately, I got to visit this place last week. It's a huge park and is exits to numerous streets around the City. It has flower arrangements arranged to gigantic sculptures of animals, a section of different kinds of trees, an area where you can play and study, a children's playground, a zoo, a small farm, and place where you can jog. It even has a free boat ride around the park. (you paddle of course). It is the best place for you to relax.

Pros: it's clean and peaceful
Cons: none
Rating: 4/4

"Pien Sit Mi": "Cheap Meals Keep you Full"

written: 04 January 2003
It is often that when we eat, there are various dishes on the table, ranging from appetizers to deserts. But as you go around in Xiamen, most people eat simply rather than what we are seeing on TV. Unbelievably, a simple pien sit me (a kind of dumpling in noodle soup) can fill my big stomach, and it only cost me 2RMB. The noodles are nothing like the noodles I've eaten, it's so good. Eating here is very cheap and clean too. There are a lot of small restaurants serving this Pien Sit Mi or Pien Shi Mien in Mandarin all over Xiamen, but there's one that I like best. I don't know the name of the resto but it's located along HeXiangSi Road and HeZaWei Road, beside a bakery.

Pros: good food and very cheap
Cons: it's a very small resto and usually crowded
Rating: 4/4
Details: If you're near these two roads, a simple exercise will take you.
