Café Giralda: "Café y Libros, Coffee and Books."

written: 23 June 2001
This café is beautiful!!! If you're like me and you like to sit around all day and drink good coffee and read then you'll love Café Giralda. Café y Libros, Coffee and Books. The café is in the same building as the well presented Museo del Siglo XIX which shows how the upper classes lived in those times. It's situated very close to Plaza Bolivar. It's open 8:30 to 5:30 Monday to Friday and 9:00 to 1:00 on Sundays.

"Local food @ la mazorca"

written: 12 June 2000
"La Mazorca" is a tiny restaurant near Bogota. It is a 20 minutes drive on the "via a la calera" (from 92nd street), you will find it about 2 km after the toll. Don't miss the fabulous steak, chorizo, rellena (a sort of sausage filled with rice, green beans and other stuff), arepa, mazorca (corn) and potatos, and drink a local beer (club colombia, leona). Bring a light jacket with you.

Pros: Great food, affordable (by colombian standards)
Cons: You'll need a car to get there.
