Marche de Noel: "Go to Strasbourg!"

written: 29 June 2002
Strasbourg is a christmas haven. The city becomes an open air christmas market. Lots of booths selling decorations and the Alsatian specialty of Vin Chaud. The area around Petite France is especially quaint and ideal for picture taking. Go to the Marche it's an experience.

Pros: easy transportation, great food, beautiful, fun
Cons: too crowded days before xmas
Rating: just a tip
Details: Train from Paris

Les restaurants Flam's: "Treat yourself to a Flammkuchen (or two or three!)"

written: 25 July 2001
A German friend first introduced me to Strasbourg in Fall 1993 while living in Heidelberg; he also introduced me to the local specialty: flammekueches! Very tasty. I've sought out Flam's each time I visited Strasbourg, and have not been disappointed. We order a 1.5 liter pitcher of Kronenbourg beer and ordered one Flammkuchen after the other...enjoying a nice Alsatian meal.

Pros: There's two in Germany (Mannheim & Stuttgart)
Cons: A chain restaurant, not a mom-and-pop locale
Rating: 3/4
Details: 1, rue de l'Epine, 67000 Strasbourg 03 88 75 77 44 http://www.flams.fr/

Transportation in Strasbourg: "Its easy to ride Strasbourg"

written: 15 June 2001
I must say that Strasbourg is one of the most modern french city. Its amazing to travel within Strasbourg, because it has a very efficient TramWAY that goes all along the city. It is also one of majors cities in France just after Marseille, Lyon and Bordeaux, so it has a fantastic railroad connection within "La France" and also with the border with Germany.

Pros: Its very modern and efficient
Cons: its a little bit expensive
Rating: just a tip
Details: after you quit the Rairoad Station you will found an information desk , and so you can ask where can you take the Tramway, or you can just go outside the R.Station and you will see the Tram Stop. N.D.

Cathedral Flamm Keuch, the metre of beer: "Strasbourg general + nightlife"

written: 23 February 2001
Strasbourg: Don't ever tell an Alsatian (that's how you call the inhabitants of Alsace) that he's German ! ;-) ... because the town may seem quite germanic compared to the rest of France. Here, you have one (if not the) the biggest cathedrals in the country. Go and see it, it's HUMUNGEOUS. I also reccommend a visit to a traditional restaurant and ordering 'Flamm keuch', which looks like a ridiculous paper-thin pizza with ham + onions but it's far more filling than it looks. For night-life, I definately recommend ordering a 'meter of beer', which is exactly what it sounds like, i.e. enough glasses to measure a metre when side by side. You don't normally drink that on your own... ;-) Visit this site for more info: www.visit-alsace.com/

Pros: beautiful, full of life
Cons: Very cold in winter + polluted air
Rating: 2/4
