Bolzano in general: "What a city"

I loved this city. I loved it more than Venice, in fact. The architecture is very different from the rest of Italy, it felt cleaner to me, the people were just as pleasant as anywhere I went, they spoke Italian and German (neither of which I speak, but if you do, it makes it so much easier), the views are INCREDIBLE (if you into the Civic Museum bring your camera: If the cranes aren't in the way, the top floor view--like an old bell tower with a floor--has an incredible 360 degree view, including the Dolomites and Alps). Otzi the Copper Age mummy is in a museum that ranks among the best I visited in Italy. The shopping is sort of expensive but quite fashionable and very diverse. The women are beautiful. A terrific base for exploring the mountains of the region on day trips (although you'd want to actually stay in the Dolomites or the Alps if you plan on hiking or skiing--the mountain roads can be a pain to travel through in any sort of timely manner).
