Clubbin in Milan: "Fun Fun Fun!"
written:
19 February 2003
I would say, Hollywood was definitely a great club! Very crowded and a high concentration of men, not very women. Lots of house and progressive music although the hiphop is a bit dated. Lots of young, goodlooking, verrry Italian men! Was a bit pricey..but altogether a good time!

choose the right clubs to party in milan!: "corso como, but a bit more afordable"
written:

I would just like to add that amongst all the clubs in milan, there are also some that are not as "high fashion, only models" and completely off limits pricewise. My first time in Milan I found the Loola Paloose, which is on Corso Como, and it has such a great atmosphere - more like a pub or a coyote ugly type of bar... great stunts by (great ;-) ) barmen, and lots of other really interesting people of all kinds...alternative to trendy... great music....I'd recomend it to anyone, you feel great, they treat you really well there!!!
Pros: great people
Cons: a lot of people
Rating: just a tip

nightlife: "Corso Como, expensive but the models make it all worth it"

When you visit Milan you should definitely go to one of the clubs on corso Como. Corso como is the nightlife area of Milan. There are clubs, bars and restaurants you would enjoy very much. Personally, I specially liked the clubs. The first one and the most famous is club Hollywood. During the model season (which is actually any time of the year), the place is crowded with models. Unfortunatly they have their own V.I.P room which will cost you Lire 300000 to enter, which is a lot of money for a student. For this money you get 1 table with 4 places, 1 bottle of Whiskey, a couple of cockes and some juce. So is this a rip off? Sure it is, but there is an atmosphere of glamour and beautiful girls who make it all worth it. I actually bumbed into Leonardo di Caprio and his (extremely nice) girl friend.
The second club is Club Toqueville only 30 metres from the Hollywood. Although the club has the same entance fee (Lire 30000) the atmosphere is more relaxed and actually more trendy. Off course, the models don´t miss this party as well, so there is plenty to look at. The walls of this club have about 10 in-build tv-screens which display, off course, fashion shows.
Each wednesday night, there is a great party at the Old Fashion cafe. If you are a student you should definely go there. Foreign students have a free entrance and each week another country is the host of the party. During the summer the dance floor moves outside and everybody is going crazy. Loved it. Other places I enjoyed are Club Atlantique (Viale Umbria) and the pitbull cafe (Corso Como).
Pros: No one speaks english
Cons: Everyone looks great

Bodeguita del Medio: "Good drinks, great atmosphere"
written:
04 September 2001
When you are looking forward to spending a quiet night with friends in a great bar, I recommend a small and cosy Hemingway-ish Cuban bar aptly named Bodeguita del Medio. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is great. The walls are covered with paintings and black-and-white pictures from Cuba, including some of Che Guevara. On weekends, the place gets crowded but somewhow there's room for old Cuban trio to sing and for waitresses to dance...
Pros: Good drinks, nice photos
Cons: Can be crowded

Lovely in summer evenings: "Naviglio"
written:

When in Milan, don't miss il Naviglio, one of the last remaining canals in the city, surrounded by restaurants, bars and antique shops. The place is especially nice in summer evenings when bars cater to the locals who gather in the streets to have a drink with friends. Il Naviglio is known for its antique shops and the antique market held once a month is worth seeing. In addition to bric-à-bric, you can make rare finds. Other favorites include a bookstore with a very good second-hand section and a pizzeria at the end closest to Piaggio XXIV Marzo.
Pros: Great for having a peaceful evening with friends
Cons: Loses most of its charm in winter

Brera again: "Shopping on the streets"
written:

If you feel like buying something while taking a walk, go to Brera. The people selling on the streets have incense burning, it smells great. And they sell incense, bags, african art work, rings, etc...
Pros: fun, you can bargain
Cons: walk faster if you don't want to buy

Jamaica bar: "On the '60s this was the place to be"
written:

During the '50s and the '60s this was the place to be 'cos it was where all the artists used to meet, when Brera was the most in neighbourhood in Milano. Now there're not so many artists there but it's still a famous place to go. It's nice to stop by and have an expresso after maybe visiting some pinacoteca or art galeries...
Pros: Very known place
Cons: the bathroom is one of those "hole" kinds.

Pinacoteca di Brera: "Pinacoteca di Brera"
written:
03 December 2000
The Pinacoteca di Brera has a collection centered basically on the XVth to the XVII century. You can also find paintings from other centuries, thought. Most of the collections are made up of paintings from churches and cloisters closed above all during the Napoleonic period. That's why religion is one of the main themes thru all the pinacoteca. If you visit it, just make sure to follow the rooms in order, so you don't skip any of them. It has some great pieces of art like the Cristo morto di Mantegna. Open from Tuesday thru Sunday, 8.30 to 19.15h.
Pros: some really good paintings
Cons: lots of religious paintings
Rating: 3/4

Brera: "The artistic neighbourhood"
written:
03 December 2000
Brera is a great neighbourhood close to down town. You can find art galeries, the art academy, pinacotecas, etc... This used to be the meeting point for artists. It has lost a little bit of that, but it's still one of the greatest neighbourhoods in Milano. During the afternoon is a perfect place to run away from crowds, and at night it just gets full of people going out. It's said that this is the neighbourhood that looks more like Paris in Milano, because it has cafés with tables outside and great restaurants to have dinner at. But I don't think it needs to be compared to anything, it's a great place by itself.
Pros: Beautiful
Cons: none
Rating: 4/4

Dadaumpa: "Bilot, balà in Briansa l'é propri bell!"
written:
16 September 2000
Rating: just a tip
