Okinawian Culture: "Beautiful Island and friendly people"
by DuaneMichael

Although ruled by the Japanese the people of Okinawa have a great difference in their culture. The people of Okinawa are extremely friendly, with most of the population concentrated on the southern tip of the 2 mile wide island. Those living in the mountains in the north are mainly farmers and to the south you have the large metropolitan areas such as Naha. Most things in Japan are expensive for those traveling with the US Dollar. However, this island is much cheaper than the mainland when compared. The weather is always comfortable and although it rains alot in the summer months it normally only lasts a few hours. Things you should while visiting. See Shuri Castle, Midi Point and definitely snorkel or SCUBA here. This is the best place in the world to explore the ocean floor!
Pros: Beautiful scenery, great people and culture
Cons: Expensive, very different food
Details: Located of the coast of China a few hundred miles south of mainland Japan
