The right place to live: "For those that may move to Nairobi"

written: 01 October 2001
For any of you that are planning on living and working in Nairobi finding a place to live may be a bit scary. Espeacily if you have had little (tourist) contact with nairobi before. Well, fear not future expats, I will try to give you some helpful hints on where to live. I prefer a housing area called Runda. Inside Runda are two areas, old and new Runda. I reccomend new runda for the newer and better houses. Runda is located just a short way away from town center area, maybe 15 to 20 minutes by car. It is near a place called Village market, believe me you will be grateful for this place. The surrounding area is filled with lush green bushes and trees and is normally very peaceful. The houses range from 3 bedrooms to around 10. By that you can assume that this is a rich area where diplomats and UN personel live, as well as, wealthy Kenyans. I have spent a lot of time here and love it. There are other nice areas around Nairobi to live in like Westlands, but then you have to deal with the crowds and cars. This is the place i reccomend the most. Hope you find this helpful!

Pros: beautiful, safe, and secure
Cons: Little far, but may be what you want
