REDTAPE NIGHTCLUB: "BEST CLUBBING EXPERIENCE"
written:
26 September 2009
This is the place to be.there's a live rock band on wednedays...courtesy of hotrod band.Friday takes off with DJs Jeff & Bells6pm-dawn.Saturday,they throw thE party down with Dj saeed & a guest Dj.security in the club is great...wide variety of drinks..bols,all absolut flavors and hot cocktails.A quite expansive balcony that allows you to see who is doing what/going where/driving what and wearing what!!THIS IS THE ONLY CLUB IN NAIROBI THAT YOU WILL VISIT AND FEEL PART OF THE CROWD.HECK!!THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE WANTING TO CHAT/DANCE/TEQUILA SLAM WITH YOU!!!!
Its red decor ,sensual lighting, disco lights and marble dance floor is sooo inviting, you will not resist.I love the 'customers only'bar...right opposite the grand entrance..you get 1st class service...see who is coming in and best of all...chat with all the other customers and have ridiculous bar games. The VIP section is cool and has its own fully stocked bar..entry:well dressed and above 25.bottle service is encouraged and several celebs hang out there. The club is really huge and the crowd goes wild...the good wild..there are pathways around the dance floor and this encourages walking around..meeting people...A few months back, they tightened their entry requirements and its all strictly 23,25 for ladies and gents respectively.you better be dressed smart, casual and trendy..(read:no sagging trousers, sandals and untidy entry for guys...)I will be going there tonight...the party never ends..ACTUALLY,LOTS OF PEOPLE LEAVE THE OTHER CLUBS AROUND (by around midnight)AND HEAD TO THIS CLUB!!!!!GO FIGURE.
Pros: you are well taken care of:-)
Cons: use a trusted/company branded taxi to and fro.
Rating: 4/4
Details: bishan plaza, westlands, nairobi.ask your conciege book you a taxi.most taxi drivers know this nightclub anyway +254 721 372 401 mwalimub@gmail.com

Dance clubs in Nairobi: "The Florida dance clubs"
written:
19 May 2001
Despite what my esteem fellow iAgoran may say about the dance clubs Florida 2000 and the New Florida, these are great places to go if you don't want a pretentious, snooty atmosphere that you'll find in the some of the trendy clubs in Nairobi (or elsewhere in the world).
The Floridas are not seedy places with shady characters scoping out the crowd. If prostitutes hang out here, it's because so many slimy expats go there looking for them. You can have an excellent time there and never once be bothered by that scene. I talked to some of these ladies and they're funny and more charming than some of the people I met at e.g. Carnivore.
Each Florida has a club-scene decor, not spectacular but not tasteless either. They have a wide mix of people in terms of age, race, econo-background -- this is not true in many clubs in Nairobi. The music is very good, modern, perfect for dancing, mixed between dance/pop/hip-hop/R&B in international flavors of American, African, Caribbean and Asian. The dance floor is small but always packed. And at some point in the night, at least on the weekends, professional dancers come out and do a 15-20-minute cabaret performance! Like most clubs in the world except the USA, the clubs don't close until morning, about 6-7am.
Anytime I go to Nairobi I visit any new club that's available but I always pay a visit to the Floridas.
Word of caution for any time you go out anywhere in the developing world: you are a tourist or expat no matter how world-travel suave you are; you are a bigger target than the residents. Be smart, be safe. Have fun!
Pros: one of the landmark dance-clubs in Nairobi
Cons: sometimes can be too crowded
Rating: 4/4
Details: Moi avenue next to Kenya cinema plaza

Partying!: "The Best Clubs and the not so hot"

Nairobi is a great city for those that love the night life. I sugggest the following clubs as the best: Pavement, by far the best nightclub, Carnivore, out of town a bit but great. Go on wensday nights for "ROCK". Black cotton club, in Karen, a little far but fun. Tropicana is more of a bar/resturant. Alos, Archievo's. it is new, a litle small but popular. Okay avoid these places as they are maylaya (prositute) hangout. Florida 2000, new florida, and K street, not a club an actual street! There are many others but the first few I mentioned are the best by far!
Rating: just a tip
Details: Pavement is in Westlands, tell the cab to go there wouldn't matter,

The Black Cotton Club: "Where the locals go"

The 'in' spot for young beautiful Kenyans is the BCC. Set in the outer suburbs of Nairobi in an open air rotunda (its big). Esp. busy when all return from their English schooling, it is by world stds fairly standard/ casual, but an eye opener for visitors who want to mix among the locals. Held either the first or last Sat of the month
Pros: Good music, friendly locals, very casual
Cons: Hard to find, ask a local
Rating: 3/4
Details: Miles out of town, near Carnivore's
