Getting around isn't easy!: "Watch the potholes, sometimes a patch of rode messes them up!"

written: 16 May 2001
Nairobi, like most African cities has developed extensive public transportation "services". The cheapest was to get around is by Matato (minivan). they pack them tight, no less than 20+people. However, at 10-60KSH a ride, not bad. Taxi is common, but can get expensive. Never pay more to Carnivore than 800KSH from Parklands, or Runda! Heka cab, forget it, you will die! Bus, very old, crowed and unsefe, but cheap. To get to othr major cities, mainly Mombasa, go to river road and use "Coast Bus", the are the best! Well, the rest you guys will discover when you get there and I do not want to tell you too much to ruin the fun. But, be careful, travel there is dangerous at time and the roads are very poor!
