Sikkim restaurant review: "Couldn't have been worse!"
written:
16 June 2003
Don't know where to start! Service was incredibly bad, unattentive, bread taken from another table and was soggy on arrival...but the worst part was that the waiter forgot to communicate our main course orders to the kitchen! They gave us free desserts to make up for it but I had to go and find another place for my friend to get soemthing substantial to eat after only her salad starter! I will not be returning!

The food sucks!!!: "Les Quinze Nits"
written:
13 April 2003
PLEASE, save your euros. This place is so not worth it. I went there with a friend in Feb/2003 and the food and service was disappointing. Even if you're a student, this place is too expensive. Bland, BORING food. I've had better at a 7-11. Seriously folks, don't waste your time and money on this tourist trap. There are better places to be had in Barcelona. Is it worth it? only if you want to say you were one of the suckers who fell for an overpriced and overrated joint.
Pros: get amused by street entertainers while queuing
Cons: bland and boring food, bad service

Food and shopping tours: "fun foody way to spend the morning"
written:
25 November 2002
A couple of local foodies have started doing tours of specially selected food shops and bars. Tastings are included - you can taste spanish cheese, hams, some weirdly wonderful chocolate, and end up getting a bit sloshed sampling some really interesting and lovely wines from all around Spain - the owner of the bar who introduces the wines is seriously tasty in his own right! well worth it, but they'll also do cut-down tours if you're short on time or dosh. They're starting other tours soon, such as shopping and Cava. They're really nice people fun to be with. Check out the website www.saboroso.com
Pros: interesting, fun and relaxed
Cons: can be pricey - but worth it
Rating: 3/4
Details: the tour's in the old town (barri gotic) they'll tell you where to meet 00 34 93 426 7068 tara@saboroso.com

Japanese-Chinese: "Chintzy Sushi"
written:
13 October 2002
Hello Sushi in el Reval may have an enticing interior, but the food is well below average. We ordered a combo plate of fifteen pieces of fish sushi (15 euros) and both gawked at the razor thin slices of fish that laid atop small balls of rice. Miso soup was of similar stature. The service wasn´t bad.
Pros: Fun to sit on the floor
Cons: Food, music

Arantxa (Charcuteria): "Unbelievably nice people!"
written:
29 June 2001
This small place right off the Ramblas has a very good selection of quality Spanish hams, cheeses, sausages, and wines for quite moderate prices. But what's most exceptional about this place are the people who run it: I have never in my life been into a place where every service provider is so incredibly and genuinely nice. Seriously, if you're having a bad day, just go in there and order something. They should charge just for their niceness!
Pros: Tasty, cheap, and incredibly nice people!
Cons: Not for vegetarians...

Great place in Barceloneta: "Restaurant Salamanca"
written:
12 June 2001
This restaurant, located at the beach site of Barceloneta offers a fantastic atmosphere and a great selection of exquisit seafoods. The personnel, in our case Antonio, treats you very special. No wonder all BCN soccer players frequently visit this place for a luxurous evening. Go inside and find a table upstairs, you can see pictures of the patron with Hermanos De Boer, Cuman, Cocu, Ronaldo and many more
Pros: Atmosphere, food, complete
Cons: No backpackers prices
Rating: 4/4

Fuse: "conFUSEd about where to find variety?"
written:
04 May 2001

If you are struggling to find a decent variety in the cuisine offerings of Barcelona, then Fuse is sure to please you no end. From the outside it looks like any other bar with some funky decor, but out the back is aan ambient and spacious environment that acts as a restaurant earlier in the night, before meteamorphising into a club in the wee hours. You might have a tought time deciding what to eat from the menu, with the mouth watering combos on offer (the salmon and pasta starter is a sure thing). But remember, leave plenty of room for dessert. They are all so good, you will want more than one - the Variantes de chocolate impressed this chocoholic!).
Pros: Spacious and ambient, amazing menu
Cons: You´ll want to eay every meal there!

Seoul Restaurant Coreà: "Korean food"
written:
08 March 2001
Korean food is not as well-known as other kinds of Asian food, and Barcelona is not a great place for Asian food, with hardly any choices outside of the big 3 (Chinese, Indian and Japanese).
So it comes as a nice surprise to find a great Korean restaurant in Barcelona, owned by actual (and very nice) Koreans. The food is tasty; more 'clear' than chinese, but not quite as minimalistic as japanese.
Try the Korean tapas, and the bowl of rice with chunks of raw fish, if you're into that.
At midday they have a cheaper lunch menu; in the evening it is a bit more expensive.
Pros: good food, not too expensive, nice owners
Cons: so-so decoration
Rating: 3/4
