OK: "Barcelona's airport"

written: 13 September 2002
It's not a problem to reach the airport or to go to the city coming from it. There are buses every 15 minutes for 3 euros or less. They'll get u to the plaza Catalunya, plaza de España, etc. where u cat take subway (metro) or taxi. There is a train every 30 minutes (cheaper than bus andmuch cheaper if u buy a ticket for 10 times) that will get u to the Sants Estacio, the biggest railway station. There u can take another train to other city or the subway. Try not have too much luggage bc u'll have some problems carrying in and off the train and moving with them through the millions of stairs in Barcelona's subway.

Trains and Classical music - a good combination: "An amazing musical experience on the train!"

written: 29 October 2001
One of the nicest means of transport is definitely a train! If you happen to find yourself travelling from Barcelona to Sitges, or way back, you will experience something that really amazed me! Music! And not any music, but some really exquisite Classical masterpieces!! Heh, that is right! The first time I took a train was on my way to Barcelona. The weather was great, I was going to visit my friends, and there I was; enjoying Bach!

Pros: great music, nice view, relaxing!
Cons: :) ..none

parc güell: "re: don't walk to parc güell"

written: 02 November 2000
A cheaper alternative to get to Parc Güell is to take the bus No. 24 (bound to Carmel). Fare is the same as subway's, you will get to see some of Gaudi's work along the way (if you take the bus at Plaza Catalunya), as well as a glimpse of the lively Gracia area. You should get off at the Parc Güell (duh) stop, which is located across the street from an alternate entrance to the park.

Pros: cheap, nice trip, you won't have to walk uphill
Cons: none
Rating: 4/4

Parc Güell: "Don´t Walk to Parc Güell"

written: 30 October 2000
A helpful tip: Parc Güell and the green line of the metro look very close on a map. Don´t believe the hype! It´s a long uphill climb, and it´s very easy to get lost in some shady neighborhoods. Either take the Bus Turística from Plaça de Catalunya (2000 pesetas) or take a cab from the Vallcarca or Lesseps metro stops. Anything is preferable to walking there.

Pros: much safer and easier to take bus than to walk
Cons: the bus is more expensive

getting a taxi in Plaza Catalunya: "Take a number"

written: 23 October 2000
After a night of Salsa dancing, paella and mojitos, many of us just want a warm bed and a pillow. The Metro is convenient for getting there, but returning to your flat of hostel can be more difficult. Enter: taxicabs. They are inexpensive and quick, but don´t skip the lines that form around Plaza Catalunya to hail them or you will recieve a quick lesson in Spanish expletives from those waiting in the line you just cut. Have some patience, practice your catalan, make a friend in line, discuss Bush´s last idiotic remark... just don´t be a poor representative of your homeland.

Pros: Good Karma
Cons: Longer wait

"T1 ticket"

written: 26 June 2000
The T1 ticket definitely is the best deal: 10 rides for Ptas.825, and you can use one ticket for several people (validate as many times as you're people of course). PS.: The fine for getting caught without a ticket is Ptas.5000, but there are hardly any checks (if there are, they're mostly at Diagonal).

Pros: Cheap
Cons: None
Rating: 4/4

"Subway Tickets"

written: 20 June 2000
If you`re planning to ride the subway a few times while you`re in Barcelona, I suggest you buy a T1 Ticket that you can get at any metro station. You get 10 rides and save quite a bit of money...

Pros: Cheaper way to ride the subway
Cons: none
Rating: 4/4
