San Sebastián, or Donostia for the Basques (this is Basque Country, buy a sticker of the Basque flag and stick it on your back-pack somewhere visible and the locals will be friendly), is north of Bilbao. Here, peolple speak Basque and are dead proud of it. Avoid the police station (guardia civil) if u can, as they have a bad tendency to get blown up by the independists.
