I was lucky to go to Valencia in Spain for the Fallas, one of spain's major festival. just incredible, it is unique. I had a hard time finding an accommodation at this time of the year but finally http://www.accommodation-valencia.com did the job, and a pretty good one! So use them, they are friendly and speak english, french and spanish. The apartment I booked was close to the Carmen, very clean and well equiped. The staff is professionnal and friendly.
Pros: clean, comfortable, friendly, perfect location
Cons: noise during fallas, restaurants closed
Rating: 4/4

"Tomitina (mountain Biking)"
written:
25 August 2005
Hi,
First time i have used this site, and i'm off to bunol this month for another great "tomitina". Last year i came across a family run b&b just 15mins from Bunol, who let me stay with them upto the tomitina in bunol(tomatoe throwing festival). They even took me and collected me as they knew parking was going to be a problem. The great thing about the trip was that they run Mountain Biking trips from the "Casa" and i'm hooked. been back twice already and they have run some great days out for me and my BF and mates. Thing to do is let them know your staying in Spain and you get it a lot cheaper than uk residents. anyone interested ive them a look at TraxnTrailz.co.uk but don't tell them your in the uk. There great supllied bikes first time and all the equip and really looked after us.

"Origen y diversidad"

"Cheap and nice"
written:

I stayed a month ago in Like at Home, a cool nice hostal in the centre of Valencia. Close to PLaza del Mercado and the Mercado itself, in the back of La Lonja building. There are single, double and some shared rooms. The price was extremely cheap for a place where u can use the kitchen and make some friends from all over the world. Clean and cool.
For a double room I paid €26, but u can pay almost €14 if u'd share the room. It's not so quiet and always good music there lots of good wibes. They don't close at night , so u can go out and there's no problem. Don't miss El Carme, the neighbourhood where most of the pubs and bars are located.
It's not far from the train station (Estacion Nord), but it's not really easy to find, but don't give up.
If u r gonna book by email make u sure to pay at least the first night, no matter what was the reply and print every email you receive.
Pros: Cheap, cool, clean, central
Cons: too many stairs, take care if u hve haevy luggage

"Don't Miss Las Fallas"
written:
25 March 2001
If you're in Spain around March 12th and need some good reasons to travel to Valencia, Las Fallas are about the best one. Between the 12th and 19th of March, the people of Valencia block traffic with towering sculptured statues that artisans have spent the past year making. All day and night, crowds of locals and foreigners fill the streets and the sounds of exploding firecrackers and fireworks fill the air. If firecrackers scare you, it's always wise to be careful, but within a few hours of the explosions, you'll probably find that you're lighting some yourself. At the end of the week, the huge statues are awarded prizes and then all are set on fire, which marks the end of Las Fallas and the beginning of spring.
Pros: fun, nice weather, constant festivities
Cons: BOOK accomodation in ADVANCE, beware of explosions

"Juan Llorens por la noche"
written:
18 February 2001
A lot of bars en discotecas are stuated in 'Calle Juan Llorens'. Friday's and Saturday's are the crowdiest days, many people are around. The atmosphere is lively and rather hot. It is a 'must have been' -site to go out after dining at El Carme and before visiting la Floridita at the beach.

"Quarters in Valencia"
written:
06 July 2000
Quarters in Valencia are full of life. People know eachoter quite a lot, they met for instance in "casals" when preparing "fallas", that is to say almost all the year. You can find them a bit noisy sometimes, but it's not a problem at all in my opinion. Just when in fallas, I can sleep because of the "petardos".

"Take the bus!"
written:

What is used most of the time in Valencia to move around is the bus. Now there is also underground but it doesn't arrive to everywhere, so I still prefer to take buses or even to walk. Valencia is not as big as other cities and you can move walking from a place to another, mainly if you are near the town center.

"Valencians, gente abierta, sociable y divertida"
written:
04 July 2000

"Drink orchata!"
written:
03 July 2000
I've never understood why it is only possible to find orchata in Spain. I find it the most refreshing and natural drink around. It's made out of 'chufa' which are some sort of nuts that are delicious when put in the water for a while...

"Paella, a wide world known dish"
written:
13 June 2000
Paella is a typical dish from this zone, done with rice, vegetable and some chicken in it's main version, but also accepts lot of varieties. Enjoy one of them there, and also visit "La Albufera", which is a sea water lake, near where they cultivate the main ingredients...
Pros: Delicious!
Cons: May be you would like to sleep afterwards...

If you don't arrive Valencia by train, don't forget to visit the train station, which is a modernism building really nice to see. Also visit the "Llotja", a gothic civil building where you'll find a stamps market sunday mornings. Afterwards you can enjoy his special sun light visiting the medieval wall.
Pros: Cheap to visit (no pay!)
Cons: You can also visit the Cathedral, Turia river...
