In downtown London, clothes shopping is not cheap. I got a good pair of trousers, with a style that is unusual for North America for 40 pounds, at the Top Shop. The biggest of such stores I've seen is at Oxford Circus. I hear that it is one of the cheapest fashionable places to shop for clothes. Tons of other pieces were interesting, but I was already spending enough... The quality looks alright, average I would say.
Around there, on Regent street, there is this 3 floors toy shop which is interesting at the least, with its basement filled with Legos. There are lots of other clothes shops, like Mango, which is also quite original and not too expensive. On Oxford circus, there is a hugo Benetton store, and on Oxford street, an Esprit one.
