A friend had to stay somewhere under 100 USD in Chicago. Without advance notice we found the House of Two Urns Bed & Breakfast. It turned out to be a great place. It is 2.5 miles from the center of downtown, and easily accessible by public transit. Good rooms and a pleasant neighborhood. Local phone calls are free, as is Internet access, both from your room.
Pros: Great rates, location
Cons: Not right in city centre
