Personal comments:
Living in the dorms is a nice way of meeting people from many parts of the world, including the local population. The only disadvantage is the lack of kitchen facilities.

Montreal is a bilingual city. I went to a French university and I spoke English with my colleagues. I improved my English and I learnt French.

Personal spending habits:
I travelled every weekend (New York City several times, Niagara Falls, Boston). I rented a room but Montreal is not very expensive. Well, alcohol drinks are.
Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food: was the same price as at home.
Nightlife, Telephone: was less expensive than at home.

It was a little difficult to open an account there.
