HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? because the dormitory is not very cozy...
Personal comments:
housing in Manila is very cheap, the dorm costs 300$ per month and you get a much much better apartment for nearly the same price. Just stay the first days in the dorm till you find the right apartment, dont worry, you'll find one - and it is easier if you arrange it from Manila then your homecity. Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
"Moomba" in Quezon City; many Pubs on Makati Ave/Jupiter St; many good restaurants and discos in Greenbelt; "Havana Bar" and others in Malate; best restaurant: "Sonya's garden" close to lake taal. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
first week is "shopping week", so you can try several courses and decide afterwards. And dont worry, the courses will be fixed one week before classes start, so you have plenty of time to chose your courses.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
they shouldnt teach 100% with case studies. sometimes, theory is nice as well! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
English is spoken widely and still somehow an "official" language, so you can interact with the local people in English. This was also a factor in my choice of country - in the Philippines you can also have a close contact with local people if you speak English - unlike other Asian countries like China or Japan. But even if English is widely used in the Philippines it's very useful to learn a little bit of Tagalog - it's not very hard and people appreciate it if you make an effort to learn their local language. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Overall the living costs in the Philippines are much lower than in Europe, so I spent a lot less. Expenses for Nightlife and Travel are also a lot lower, but you also travel and enjoy nightlife a lot more :) Travel, Nightlife: was the same price as at home. Food, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
That I would end up buying a lot of cheap local clothing and other stuff, so I could have arrived with just a toothbrush and a towel ;) Take only the really necessary items with you and get all the rest locally, no need to bother with a lot of luggage. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
The Asian Institute of Managment is a top-ranking business school in Asia, a regional centre in management education with a diverse student community from a variety of Asian countries (not only from Southeast Asia, but also a lot of students from India, and some from China or Japan, etc.). FINAL COMMENTS
Enjoy the vibrant social life and beautiful nature, and don't hesitate to get in touch with the local people, you will have a lot of excellent experiences which you will never forget. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
