Personal assessment

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? The opportunity to meet people is directly on campus. Almost all of the students are dormed on campus, thus the meeting opportunities are greater.
Personal comments:
The living situation was sufficient and convenient. I was provided with bed linens, the room itself was spacious and clean. There are two students per dorm, sharing a bathroom, which was very convenient.

Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
The options are limited, yet of what is available, is quite pleasing. Many people would go to the cafe/restaurant called, "La Paix" where traditionald modern meals are served. There is a cafe, serving coffee and pastries as well. In addition, many students would spend weekend nights at Teuillels which is a bar/dance club in the area.

My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
This university focuses on business adminstration and there is not much concentration on the humanities. I wish there were more courses offered in the social sciences for students to flourish in all fields of study.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
I wish there was more interaction among the students. Being an international student there, the academic mentality was different from mine so I wish there was more time to interact with the other students.

Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge
How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Basic phrases
My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
Personal comments:
Luckily, I was able to learn more of the first native language, Arabic, from my friends. Unfortunately, the French course I had taken, did not help me retain much of the secondary language. But I did have previous knowledge of the language before.

EXPENSES
by rubyDKL, Boston College, Boston, United States

The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:

Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
The currency difference does play a role. I would spend as much time going out to eat than I did at home. Furthermore, because I traveled more abroad than I did at home, I spent more there. The Nightlife scene was about equal.
Food, Travel: was the same price as at home.
Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
I am not aware of any at the moment.
