You should go to visit: Galway, Dublin Cork, Coth, ZOO Float, Klifs of Moher, Belfast - this way u will see all the best in Ireland. Go surfing if u can do it. Always take umbrela with u and good waterproof shoes. Rent a car for traveling, Ireland has a bad comunication to travel and from midnight till six in the morning there are no busses and trains. KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I liked to live in an appartment so much. You are independent if you rent a flat or appartment.
Personal comments:
At the Athlone AT in Ireland the students can live in rented houses, flats, or there are student villages with independent houses. In the student village where I lived, in each house there are four appartment, for 3 or 4 person. Everyone has own bedroom, bathroom for 2,and a livingroom. Other appartments have double rooms as well. There lived/live a lot of international and Irish student as well, so it was a great place to get to know new people, nationalities, cultures, languages, and of course to practise the English.

Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Athlone is a typical Irish city in the middle of the island. The atmosphere of any places you go is amazing, you can feel the ancient Irish times in many places any time you enter. Personally I love Irish music and culture. I was also impressed by the fact of how proud the Irish are of their country. One thing I can surely recommend is the oldest pub in Ireland, in my host city Athlone, called Sean's pub.

Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
At first I had problems to speak english and I was quite shy to speak it. And I didn't trust my skills. But after month or two I spoke it quite good and I wasn't nervous any more. And now I know that it's not so important to say right way things, more important thing is that I can communicate and I understand what people are saying to me.

Other sources of funding:
Personal savings
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
Telephone: I didn't call to home cause I used email and all friends here lived so near that I didn't have to use phone. I travelled lot in here and I had quite active nightlife. But before I came here I knew it already that I'm going to travel a lot. Place where I lived is very expensive and electricity here is very expensive also.
Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food: was the same price as at home.
Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
In the pub I spent so much money before christmas. So if you want to save money don't go every time when others are going. I did it :(
