HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Since my present abott is quite far away from the university, it is not possible to study at the university after midnight. It takes about 30 minutes to come the university and its also expensive.
Personal comments:
This year many students got the chance to study at this famous university and that's why there was some scarcity of accomodation. As far as I could realize, the university should have been more prudent about this situation. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The courses stress group work and a lot of indepedent research and analysis..Very open styled examinations that improve creativity and a pro active approach.Very relaxed and professional organization..Learning by having fun and interacting with teachers and guse lecturers..Very good experience..Plus company visits and a final Master's thesis work done in cooperation with a Swedish company.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
May be, more interaction with local students by joint academic activities...For everything else the environment (including the facilities) and the organization were very good, Nordic style I would say! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
The proficiency of natives in English is very wonderful. However, that means that it makes all the more difficult to learn the local language because people tend to switch back to english instead of swedish if they notice that you are not good enough. EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
None Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Food is almost the same price. You get more choice when it comes to international food, which I like. Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Nightlife and eating out is where you will spend more money. I advise you to eat at home, cook you food. Restaurants don't seem that good. Pizzas and Kebabs have good price and you can get nice quality. Summary: If you want very nice/gourmet food do it yourself. If you want to eat out, I think Pizza and Kebab house are what is worth. Nevertheless, at lunch its quite cheap to eat out at most places/restaurants, there is lunch menus everywhere. That is worth once in a while. Lunch at Chalmers can also be a cheap an nice experience, try the vegetarian buffet at the canteen. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Not really..I appreciated I had to discover myself cultural differences and adapted consequently. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It is a good university, the best in Sweden together with KTH of Stockholm...It has a good international and domestic reputation among companies and in the academic world.May be, for someone would be difficult to get udjusted to the dark weather and the coldeness during the winter..It will be difficult to interact with Swedish students as well since they are conservative to my impression..But the experience to get to know a different academic approach and a different culture plus the highly valued international context makes the experience a very good one! FINAL COMMENTS
A helpful advice is to shut down all the prejudices once in Sweden and start to interact with the local environment from scrap..It will make the permanence easier in the beginning and funnier afterward. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
