HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Our apartments were in the nicest, richest neighborhood in Athens. We were very lucky to be in this area.
Personal comments:
The apartments were cleaned every other week by sweet older Greek women. They were on the small side, but in a prime location. Overall, they were great. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Best cafe would have to be Da Capo in Kolonaki Plateia. Privilege, Banana Moon and Cafe 48 were all great night spots. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Professors are experts in the area that they are instructing in. You have numerous on site learning opportunities - for example learning about Crete while you are actually there.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
Since the courses were taught in English, except for the language courses, we didn't learn a large amount of Greek. I would recommend talking a language course during your semester or year. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
no In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It was a great experience, but some people really didn't like Athens. It's a crazy city - dirty, polluted, and loud - but I loved it anyway. FINAL COMMENTS
College Year in Athens is a program not a University. It is small (usually about 90 students a semester) and is sort of a family atmosphere. You get to travel a lot with your classes, but there is also time to travel on your own. It was the best experience of my life and I would go back in a second.
