HOUSING
by Natasha, University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia
International Relations, University Agreement
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because housing is pretty adequate in Montreal. The experience of finding an appartment and living within a typical Montreal neighbourhood added to the experience of the whole exchange.
Personal comments:
I was informed that there was little housing on-campus. I never saw this accomodation.

Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
There are lot's of places to go : - Café Campus : best disco - Deux Pierrots : a traditional dico with quebecer songs. - Lots of restaurants from everywhere in the world. I like the "soup and noodles" : very cheap asians restaurants.

Educational

Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
I am much more comfortable than I was before when it deals with speaking english now. I think what made the difference was the fact that I really wanted to communicate and exchange ideas with all the people around me with whom I had to work in every courses. I made the choice of studying abroad since I wanted to discover a new culture through people, countryside and the education system but I also knew from the beginning that I was there to improve my english everyday.
