Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
At least I did not have any difficulties, but I studied business subjects in English before too and lived in Ireland. The lecturers were clear and didn't have problems with communication during lessons. The local accent and ethnic groups around Coventry have a certain accent but I learned to listen to it pretty soon. If you know English, the language is not going to be a problem, and if you don't know English yet, then you will surely learn it there.. Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
I was studying Modern Languages (with English as my first foreing language) and was quite fluent in English before coming to England. However, after my whole year there, I realised that my language skills had improved enormously, especially in the colloquial and slang levels, since it is hard to command these areas if you do not spend a period of time in an English-speaking country. I can consider myself bilingual now thanks to my stay in Coventry. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
At university I had some problems at the beginning because it wasn't easy to understand everything of a lecture. But I improved a lot. I think that it helped the fact I had to write many essays. Outside university the best thing was talking my mother language the less I could. I also attended a course outside university and took the first certificate This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

University activities (lectures, seminars) and self study allowed me deepen my knowledge of business English. After one-year stay in UK I have no problems in comprehending business and financial books and academic articles published in English. My everyday English was also greatly improved and the whole stay was of a great value for my personal development. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

It was great to have the chance to keep improving my english level and to interact with other international students and local students as well. Thanks to this experience I think I am ready to work in the United Kingdom which was one of the main reasons why I chose to study there in the first place.
