Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Because I spent a lot of time in the different bus and trains everyday. If you live on campus you have more time to everything.

I think that they have a big problem with the accommodation. Some people live very far from the university and I have never seen exchange students living in host families. All the residences are occupied by danish people and there are big problems to find an accommodation close to the university. I think they have to improve this aspect as soon as possible

I think that the standards of living are in general high regarding all types of housing at DTU. Perhaps some of the places are located too far from the university and this should taken more carefully into consideration when rent is to be paid. In such cases one should pay significantly less than someone located near the university in a place of a comparable standard.

If u travel a lot in the city, by a monthly ticket. Read some information regarding activities in the town, so you want miss something that you are particularly eager to go to. A very good idea is to buy a second hand bike on arrival, or fetch one from home. Bike lights are mandatory at night! You can use also the city bikes in Copenhagen, located at different stands in the city. You need a 20kr. piece to insert, which you get back when attach the bike to another stand. It's really cool using them. This way you can browse all the city. (beware, you should have front and rear lights for biking at night). Take a boat trip along the channels, there is a cheaper one from Holmens Kirke.

Accomodation is a big isssue there, people at the university try to do their best to find an accomodation for every exchange/foreign sutdent. But sometime they could not satisfy everyone, but don't worry, you will not sleep in the street. Tips: If you really want want to see the Danish student live, try to contact and get a room at student campus called "collegium"

Denmark is almost a bilingual country, so it was not a problem to speak English there in the most of situations. About university, they offer courses in English language specifically. In fact, I was surprised some courses were in English but not in Danish, so Danish students have to do these courses in English if they were interested in them. This means this university really cares about English language skills of its students.

Course recommendations
All the engineering courses that I had taken were pretty good, and interesting. Some of them could have been more fun, but generally there was no problem.

Personal comments
As we international students had various experiences of how to study, it did take a while to get into the Danish way of studying. More guidance would have been nice, especially as there is so much else in the country that foreigners are seeing - as well as the studying!
