HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? To be closer of Paris centre-ville, my appartment was a bit far of that to leave home for an hour...
Personal comments:
The international relations office knew about our coming but accomodation wasn't really helpful to quickly get going in the French academical system. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
It's really a heavy program to attend. Interested students shouldn't underestimate the stress and the pain waiting for them...
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
It would be nice to have more flexibility and choice regarding the courses to attend. In fact I had to do 14 stipulated courses (Unites de Valeur=UV) over 3 semesters. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
Due to lots of written and oral exams I had to adapt quickly to this new situation. But I essentially improved my French skills during an internship in summer 1998 when I got in contact and made friends with French people. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
The price level in Paris is higher than in Germany, i.e. Nightlife is a lot more expensive... (from 15Euros to enter a club) Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Travel, Housing: was the same price as at home.

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
How difficult and depressing the PDD really can be... In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Dauphine is a name talking to almost everyone in France! Its reputation is undisputed! On the other hand, lots of hard work attends any students wanting to profit from this reputation. FINAL COMMENTS
Interested students should carefully consider the pros and cons of a participation in the PDD mentioned above. Travel tips: Paris offers you a lot - may be more than you can see during 1,5 years. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of time to travel and discover the country. One should definitely participate in the following events: - Ski-Etudes, one week in March(?!) in the snow with courses at the face you have to attend to get to ski pass! Great experience! - Week end d'integration, students communities organise these events at the start of the academical year. You leave Paris for a non-stop party - 2/3 unforgettable days where you definitely get in contact with many cool people... This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
