Lille's location is wonderful for travelling. It only takes an hour to go to Paris, 40 min to go to Bruxells...etc. Read Review

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I had the best possible apartment one could get!The student residences were quite small, but clean and ok.But it's really difficult to find an really nice apartment...
Personal comments:
The school does not provide any help concerning the accommodation. You have to arrange that by yourself. the can give you some advice, but that's all. It was a bit stressful to try to find the apartment.

KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
You will find if you go there. One of the good things about my host university is that you can get easily lots of information about events, nightclubs...etc. In Rue Massena there are plenty of clubs, and in Vieux Lille lovely restaurants (let's try la cave aux fioles)

My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
At least the standard/or degree of difficulty was lower than in my home university. But it was ok...less work and more time to travel and go to the beach :)

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
Depending on the standard of the home university, I would suggest to choose carefully all the courses. If the home university is known as "demanding" one should choose courses from the highest level (year 3),if possible.

EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Government assistance
Other sources of funding:
Family
Personal savings
An ERASMUS grant
A private grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work
Personal spending habits:
I bought a prepaid mobicarte for my mobile. It was much more expensive to use this caed than pay the bills at home in Finland, so I didn't use the phone that much...Nightlife expenditures are quite individual, but for me it was quite expensive, a lot of partys. And travelling is something that is a must! It's really worth it! There are so many nice places to see and short distances to Spain, Italy and other Fench cities. Be prepared that travelling will cost you a fortune.
Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home.
Food: was the same price as at home.
Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Not really, everything was as in my home country. If you need some additional financing the Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF)(i think it's some Gouvernment aid)can help you. The pay a part of your rent. The best option is to live alone or with a room mate of the opposite sex. Then you will get more money from CAF.I don't know why, but this was the case for many students.

I wish I had known...
Yes, if I had known how fun I was going to have, I would have applied for a year in Nice instead of 4 months.
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
I was home strech in my studies, so it didn't make a diffrence what courses i chose, but if one really wants to have a high standard on the courses and work hard, I would recommend some other school. But if one wants to have the best time ever, choose Nice EDHEC.You will meet new friends and have so much fun.
