HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Personal comments:
It is across the university, close to the metro to Paris and relatively cheap for the space I have.I have my own bathroom and kitchen and live on the 3rd floor. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Please think about 'the foreigners', do not speak so fast it is too hard for them to understand and ask them for feedback!
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
The lecturers which give lectures in English must have a fair knowledge of the english vocabulary in order to get the message to the students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
In the beginning I was afraid to make mistakes. When the contact with the French students grew, my French is improving and the fear is gone. It is just not an automatism yet, but the year is not over yet. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Government assistance An ERASMUS grant Subsidies from the French government Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
because I went out in Paris, which is extremely expensive. Before moving to Paris I lived with my parents so the groceries were not on my expenditure list, but I know it is more expensive here. The Metro is relatively cheap in comparison with Holland. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Do not look for a house in Paris but in the suburbs like Coubevoie, Nanterre and Puteaux. You are close to Paris but enjoy the cheaper rent prices and less noise. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
More knowledge of the French language. The french buraucracy culture. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Give the foreign students as much information on everyday things and customs and habits as much as possible. inform them about the school policies such as internships. Do Not forget that they are non french students and inform the lecturers about it, so that they can pay attention to them and ask them for feedback during classes. FINAL COMMENTS
Do not fight or compare french culture with your own, eventhough certain things are handled differently then at home. You are in France, go with the flow of everyday life, embrace it so it can embrace you. You will have a great time! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
