HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? You have more independence in your own flat, plus there isn't really any other choice here.
Personal comments:
It's a bit different to university life in england as they haven't got any accomodation of they're own except a couple of rooms for visitors. But there is plenty of accomodation in the town, and the prices aren't too high. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by CatherineF, University of Reading, Reading, United Kingdom
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The most popular student bar is Les Dunes, just across the road from the Business School. There is also a bar in the vicinity called Chesters which is good for cocktails!! In general the clubs are quite expensive and a bit dodgy! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
I would not recommend this Business School to anyone who does not like working in groups! On the other hand it is a brilliant way to get to know people and forces you to use your French so you become fluent quicker! There is not a huge amount of extra work to do in addition to the scheduled lessons. ERASMUS students are expected to take the same exams as the French students.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
As long as you turn up to all the lessons, the exams will be fine! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I feel I have learnt more this year than I could have ever hope to learn stuck in grammar lessons etc! I have found all of the French students and staff extremely welcoming and patient which has been one of the reasons why I have made so much progress and enjoyed myself so much. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Family An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
International calls are obviously quite expensive, and at home I still live with my parents, so I didn't have to pay a rent! Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
You can get money from the French government to help you pay your rent. You have to go to the "caisse d'allocation familiales (CAF)" for that. At school they will certainly explain you what to do. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
You need a business outfit for the missions (work placements organised by school)! In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
The quality if courses could be better. But the missions (workplacements) are quite interesting. It is a small university. But for international students this could be an advantage because it is easy to get to know people. The atmosphere was very friendly! The administration of this school is quite uncomplicated. FINAL COMMENTS
It is very different from german universities concerning the courses. There was a lot more of practice than in Germany. Sometimes too much. But it was a very good experience for my career, especially the missions. All in all I had a lot of fun during this year. The French students were very friendly and open to the international students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
