EQUIS ESC Toulouse
ESC Toulouse, 20 boulevard Lascrosses, BP 7010, 31068 Toulouse, France
Description:
Founded in 1903 by the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the school's initial vocation was to respond to the needs of the local business community for able business administrators. Originally housed in a 15th century monastery located in the old town centre, the school's present premises include a downtown campus and an ultra-modern " electronic " campus located on the perimeter of the city. The downtown campus, a blend of aesthetic architectural harmony and functional excellence is located at the heart of the business complex near the centre of metropolitan Toulouse. The School, one of France's prestigious "Grandes Écoles de Management" was hitherto simply known as ESC Toulouse (École Supérieure de Commerce de Toulouse), delivering a single unique graduate degree to highly selected students. Responding to the needs of the business community the school pursued a vigourous policy of programme development and diversification. The title Groupe ESC Toulouse reflects the results of this policy. Today Groupe ESC Toulouse, a member of the Toulouse University Consortium, is one of France's leading integrated management centres. Its primary vocation is to prepare students to assume managerial responsabilities by developing their analytical, integrative and interpersonal skills while catering for their needs in the lifelong learning process. We thereby aspire to laying the foundation for leadership in tomorrow's business world.

HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: student flat
Why? Because one has more contact with exchange students and gets easier integrated.
Personal comments:
Accommodation are quite expensive, especially if you want to live in a furnished room. Here, student residences are common, the advantages are the metro and bus access and the fact that you get to know a lot of people, but they are situated a bit outside the center. Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
There are a lot of cafes, but I liked to (irish) pubs the most, there is always a nice atmosphere. There are not only students going out, but you will find a lot of older people in while going out. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
The courses could have been shorter, as an exchange student it is quite hard to follow the same subject for 4 hours.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
I must admit that one can learn a lot in 5 months, even if one just listens to the teacher during the lessons. You learn most when you need to cope with daily situations. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Family An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Alcohol very expensive in comparison to UK. Rent was also exteremely expensive for the service received. Food is good but by no means cheaper and although rail-travel is excellent, the prices of flights are considerably higher. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
High initial deposit/guarantee. Mobile phone charges expensive. I advise searching for shared private accomodation and buying a contract phone. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I am not finished yet, but I am sure I am going to miss some things here when I am leaving in April. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
