KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Personal comments:
the apartment ist a bit outside the city of BCN and its state wasn`t as we expected it to be beeing quite expensive. And the worst : we have no heating!!!

Overall
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
Don`t miss the BIKINI (nice place to dance), Placa del Sol in Gracia, La Ovella Negra ( many students, many foreigners ), Danztoria ( in summer: uncomparable)and all the small bars in Barrio Gotico, Barrio Born, Eixample...

Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers

Course recommendations:
as they are havin trimesters in the area of Marketing, it is not easy to reach the recommended credits

KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course

Personal comments:
the executives of ESMA should be informed better about the value the exams have in the home country and all the process around the exams. the communication and the support could have been much better

Language of instruction: Spanish
Was learning Spanish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Spanish
How much did you improve your Spanish?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
AS spanish was the instuction language I didn`t have any problems. In everyday life the catalan speaking people changed into spanish when they recognized you didn`t understand. No problems.

Main source of funding:
Other
Other sources of funding:
Home University
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
The cost to install a telefone line ist incredibly high! Apartment rent was expensive, everyday life was almost the same as at home, nightlife somestimes a bit more expensive ( depends on the place you go to )
Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Travel, Nightlife: was the same price as at home.
Food: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Check if you live in a part of BCN where they have other telefone providers than telefonica e.g. Meta ( could save ou a lot of money ), having an international student card can give you cheaper access to some sightseeing (e.g. Sagrada Familia)

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
Academic reasons
KEY:
Very Important.
Important.
Not really important.
Unimportant.
Culture
Costs
Activities
Campus life
Party / people
Weather / Location
I wish I had known...
That there are no other Erasmus students at ESMA than me and my colleague from Germany :-(
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
If you are interested in meeting many students from foreign countries I can not recommend ESMA. Don`t let them provide your acommodation, search yourself ( will be cheaper ), don`t expect "university atmosphere", itīs more like in school...
