HOUSING
by UNKNOWN, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom
Marketing and Sales Management, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? The university is not in the town centre, so it is much handier to live in a flat in the town centre, where all the shops and nighlife are.
Personal comments:
ESSCA can help you find an appartment in the centre or on campus, which is what the vast majority of international students opt for. If you choose this option, you will find yourself living close by to other international students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
There are 3 cinemas all within walking distance. Plenty of pubs and bars, most are quite small but the Sunset bar is larger, and has pool tables. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Japanese language was very difficult to learn but thanks to our everyday lessons at the university, I learned fast how to speak in the everyday life and it helped me a lot. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work Personal spending habits:
I found food to be quite cheap, and nights out were cheap because a lot of students would hold house parties instead of going clubbing. Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
There is a second hand shop called Eurocash (near the Carrefour on the number 10 bus) which sells second hand household goods such as televisions etc. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known that we should be patient for anything that we want to do ( buy a train ticket, go to the post office ...) japanese people in general are really slow in everything that they do. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Sophia University is a really good one. Teachers are really good and there are about 200 foreigner students each year so it is easier to meet people from different countries. FINAL COMMENTS
Japan is a very good place to travel. I have already been twice to China and I will go in Thailande and Korea in the next few months. Then Japan is a really good experience because the japanese culture is very different from western countries, so it is very interesting to learn how does it work. Finally japan is beautiful, there are a lot to do if you want to travel... This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
