HOUSING
by larry, Skema Business School, Nice, France
Financial Management, University Agreement
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: In colocation
Why? Living alone is quite annoying, I need some life at home.
Personal comments:
The problem is that local people know that students are hardly looking for accomodation, so they rise prices a lot. And there is no government help as in France for housing costs. But the quality of housing is excellent. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by larry, Skema Business School, Nice, France
Financial Management, University Agreement
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
If you're there, you should go to Frankfurt for daylife (animations on the Zeil) and nightlife (U60311). The best thing to do there is to search good local websites announcing events, concerts... on this region. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by Karim, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Business Studies, self-arranged year abroad
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Choose easy courses, especially if you are struggling with the German language, but nonetheless choose courses in that language. That's because the academic standards there are quite high, i.e. there are rarely easy courses. Big exception: Entrepreneurship, which I took. Good teaching, not too much work & the professors love to give good grades :)

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
It was a bit difficult in the beginning but my proficiency in German improved with more interaction with people in the community and not just the students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Housing in Germany seemed to be generally more expensive and it being my first time in Europe I wanted to travel more. I spent less on food because there is a wider variety which enabled me to save more. Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Some food groups were surprisingly affordable, that is where most of my cost savings came from. Tip: it is better to buy supermarket brand food and to travel in groups to save on gas or get group discounts on tickets. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known where the "good spots" are. I have discovered them too late... In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
If you like finance, go there, your expactations will be "overfilled"! FINAL COMMENTS
Take several scarfs, gloves,... for the cold. For nightlife, if you like electronic music and rock/metal, it's excellent. If you live near the "Burg", you don't need a laptop, just use computers there. If you intend to stay just one semster, it is useless to buy one, every student goes nearly every day on the web.
