HOUSING
by Jiri, Masarykova Univerzita V Brne, Brno, Czech Republic
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? to maintain the contact with other students
Personal comments:
actually you have not got a choice, you have to accept this kind of accomodation, because Eisenstadt is a small town, where you can find some another accomodation very hardly. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Mária, Masarykova Univerzita V Brne, Brno, Czech Republic
Business Studies, CEEPUS
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The night life is not very intensive but Eisenstadt is a small town so do not await too much. We partied a lot in the "Partyraum" in the cellar of the dormitory. Mendez and Cebu are nice places too. The best pizzeria is near the castle - Pizzaboy. Do not miss Fasching-Dienstag, Stadtfest and Sommerfest, if you go there in the spring semester. My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Incoming-courses are quite interesting, the teachers are all nice. From the other courses I have taken only too, the were very interesting for me but the material for the course is sometimes not so easy to obtain.
My opinion of the university assessment

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
I had no problems with communiation - everybody spoke either German or English very well. I was fluent in German also before I went there, so I wanted to learn 'Wirtshcaftsdeutsch' (Business German) and I have learnt a lot about the Austrian slang too. I understand that a bit now, but still much to learn;-) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
by Mária, Masarykova Univerzita V Brne, Brno, Czech Republic

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Other Other sources of funding:
Family Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
Because in the Czech Republic, the country of my home uni, the prices of food and accomodation are lower than in Austria. I have spent less on telephone because I used almost only skype and a pre-paid card. Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife: was the same price as at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
I was really surprised that trains and busses were so expensive. It is better to have your own car with you if you have one. For example, we made a trip to Graz, 5 people by car - it was only 10 euros per person. By train it would have been 65 euros... Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Nothing comes to my mind... I guess I was well prepared, as I have already been studying in a foreign country. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I have spent a great semester there... perhaps there could be a bit more programms for incoming, e.g. regular country presentations etc. FINAL COMMENTS
As I have said I liked my stay very much!!! If you come from CZ or SK, there are cheap bus connections, it's easy to get there. There are not many internationals, only about 20-30 but also from countries like Croatia, Romania... nice people:-) Ausrians are also very nice, bit you will have to make the first step to get closer.
