HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I prefer to have my own space in which to complete work.
Personal comments:
Living with a German family was both difficult and rewarding, and I'm thankful to have done it. The experience has made me want to work abroad in a number of capacities. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Personal comments:
Berlin provides every possible contemporary cultural innovation. Friedrichshain is a fascinating and lively neighborhood. The WMF Club is amazing. The record shop Staalplaat is unlike any I have ever visited. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
It was my choice to go on the SIT program, but I would have preferred a native language-based instruction.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
The host family experience forced me to utilize my language skills, yet the immersion experience could have extended to the classroom. Most Germans speak English well, so it would have behooved us to have no choice but to be constantly surrounded by their language. EXPENSES

Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
Personal savings Work opportunities:
Personal spending habits:
Berlin itself is quite cheap, it is just the rail and telephone prices that are unreasonable for me. Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
To not have as much trepidation about speaking with locals. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I cannot comment about the actual university, as I was on a specific program that utilized its resources. FINAL COMMENTS
