HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Private student dorm off campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because Iwould have the opportunity to choose a house/flat closer to the city centre and live in a better/newer building.
Personal comments:
The student dorm was not owned by the university, however it was recommended in the university website. The pictures of the facilities that were advertised in the student dorm's website were not representative. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Just a small note: even though there may be modules taught in English in other departments of FU Berlin, there are no modules in English in the Business School. I think this should be made clear to the Erasmus students coming to FU Berlin. Many students had a very low level of German and they did not manage to pass any courses.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my German How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
I believe that studying in Berlin for a semester was a unique opportunity for me to speak German fluently. As I mentioned in the previous section, all the modules were taught in German, so this motivated me to revise everyday and become very fluent in a very short period of time. In the end I spoke German like I never even imagined I would! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I spent less in food, housing and nightlife because they are cheaper in Berlin rather than in Athens. I spent more in telephone because it was more expensive. I spent more in traveling because I was traveling more often than in my home country. Travel, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was less expensive than at home.

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known that the student dorm in which I stayed was not a very good option in terms of facilities. The pictures on their website were misleading so I believe I could have made a better choice in terms of accommodation. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I believe that the modules in this university are quite hard, considering the fact that they are also taught in German. My recommendation is that if students are considering to spend their Erasmus semester at the FU, they should be fluent in German or eager to improve their German. FINAL COMMENTS
Berlin is very close to the borders with Poland, so it is a very nice opportunity to visit it! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
