HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I lived on campus first semester which was very convenient and handy at first but there quite a few annoyances that made me choose to live off campus during the second semester.
Personal comments:
Good but overpriced. Much better accomodation can be found off-campus and alot cheaper. Very handy living in the dormitory at first as everything was organised there(i.e. physical examination, visa procedures, registration etc) which was amazing at first. However, there is no living area or general area where students could hang out. Only two kitchens per floor (each floor has 34 rooms) and two refrigerators(though mini fridges could be rented). Rooms have own bathroom and are well maintained. Though very convenient, I would recommend living off campus. Warning to those who want to live on campus - go for room numbers that are even in the end (i.e. 1828) as these rooms face the south side and have a much better view, are alot quieter and warmer in the winter than northside rooms (i.e. 1829) Tonghe Apartments, KIC Village (brand new!) and Rainbow city seem very popular choices. Living in an apartment is generally alot cheaper than living on campus. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Personal comments:
Everything changes so quickly here.. just go about and discover for yourself.. Shanghai is just a brilliant city (even though it may need some getting used to at first!) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
None Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
Its cheaper here. Though SH is one of the most expensive cities in China.. be warned! Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
We got offered a UC grand during our second semester from Fudan which was nice. Basic money saving principles apply as in the western world.. even though it may seem cheaper to dine out here, it is cheaper to cook yourself. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
