HOUSING
by Patrick, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, United States
Financial Management, Independent
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I had my own house before coming to school, so living with roommates is not high on my list of things to do.
Personal comments:
Housing around campus gets easy to find around June or July, but before that be prepared to be charged a higher rate. If you could wait, wait until the summer to secure housing. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Mark, University of Bath, Bath, United Kingdom
Business Studies, Independent
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Peel Pub on St Cathrine's a great place to go for a few before going out, the best night clubs are mostly on St Laurent. Cafe Campus on a Tuesday night is a student must! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
Montreal is bilingual (French/English). So I had the opportunity to practice my English a lot (with local people, my housemates, etc.) even if HEC Montreal is a french-speaking business school. This said HEC do offer some of the courses in Engkish and in Spanish also. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I didn't want/need to work Personal spending habits:
If you travel a lot you will have more expences for sure, but there are affordable travel agencies as well. Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife: was the same price as at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Over all, (besides travelling) I spend as much in Canada than in Austria! Don't open a banking account! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had spoken more French from day one. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Myself and everyone I know had an amazing time. There is so much to see and do both in Montreal and within reasonable travelling distance. Exchange students are really well catered for. FINAL COMMENTS
Spending two semesters here was perfect as in Montreal summer and winter are two completely different experiences. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
