Stormstraat 2, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
Description:
Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB) is the result of a merger between three Brussels-based university colleges and one university. As such, it has become a multifaceted institute of higher education. We offer the best of both professional and academic worlds, e.g. excellent student counselling, a well-developed research culture, an analytical approach, business-oriented ways of a school of economics.

HOUSING
by Barbara, Akademia Ekonomiczna, Krakow, Poland

Personal assessment
Type of housing: a room in a house for trainees
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? to have contact with other people, not just to meet them in the hall:)
Personal comments:
the school offered help in finding accomodation, and gave a few addresses, but it was a bit difficult to contact with those people, that's why I was searching on my own; I have a friend in brussels who gave me some links to good websites and but for his help it would be difficult for me to find anything This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
I enjoy visiting Latino and Irish pub/clubs. Places like Romanticus, Havana Club, O'Reillys, and Wild Geese could be a place to visit for the weekends. I'll say "Grande-Place" is another place one shouldn't miss during the summer. Moviegoers would sure have a great fun at Kinepolis but UGC-Debrouckere could prove to be a better alternative if one is planning for all-night fun for the fact that it's located at where I'll call the "Manhattan" of Brussels. Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
In Brussels the most spoken languages are flemish and french. Becaus eof the fact that flemish is more or less the same as dutch, i faced no problems communicating. I tried to speek french and managed to improve my french as well. At the uni everybody speeks english so that was no problem at all. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work Personal spending habits:
Cause the entrance for clubs are more expensive, the food is more expensive, this shity small room costs 300,- per month and it home i pay only 250 for a big room with all inclusive like telephone and fast internet conection. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
check the houses or room before you study here, means visit the town before and search rooms This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
No everything was fine In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Because most exams are at the end of the semester you have a whole semester time for travelling and living. EHSAL is great, especially the international office (Dirk Van Waelderen) FINAL COMMENTS
If you want to travel during your international student experience Brussels is great, because there are cheap flights to great destinations and with the THALYS you can reach Paris within 1,5 hours. There is a public transport card available for students (costs only 25€ for the whole year). Just ask the international office!
