HOUSING
by Alfred, Univ. of Lethbridge, Lethbridge, Canada
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Student Housing
Why? The cost is much cheaper then what foreign/international students are charged.
Personal comments:
The housing arranged through this school is for the most part terribly expensive. For the 2nd half of my stay here I arranged my own living arrangements and this had made my stay both much more affordable as well as a much better experience overall.

STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
As in the whole Netherlands, the night life is based on the caffes and clubs all around the city. Specially, Utrecht has a marvellous ambient during the night all week long (Donīt forget that is a student city). Some tips; if you are interested either in technological or jazz music, Netherlands offers you a wide diversity of places. In Utrecht there are magical clubs, as The Tivoli (all kind of music along the week, the best day for me is Thursday) Omelizhing (probably the best after in the city) or Winkel van Sinkel (with cool sessions during the weekend, specially techno with "Club Risk" and some others from around Europe). If you prefer the caffes, the offer is great, either to eat or just drink a beer outside the caffe, the center is your zone.

My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
I think Mechanical Engineering is main source of all Engineering programs, and Product design option that I'm in now is the most interesting aspect of the Mechanical Engineering. It really has to do with innovations which make it more intresting.

My opinion of the university assessment

Yes, I think Dutch language should be a compulsory course for all international student, because I believe it is our duty as international in Netherlands to learn how to speak Dutch.

How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: Basic phrases
Personal comments:
I am really courious about Dutch language, by the way, I am keeping learning till now. Unfortunately, most Dutch can speak so beautiful English that I could not find a lot of chances to practise my Dutch language. Honestly, the English level of Dutch is also a good point for me, a foreiger, living in the Netherlands.

Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home.
Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
In the first month i was shocked with how much money i used but later I had to cut down my expenses in food by not to buying fast foods so often or eating outside, reduce clothes shopping as I used to in Tanzania.Always you need to know how much money you use in a month so as you don't get financial suprises time after time.I learnt how to budget my money and save when I came in here. Its a big improvements
