HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Because London is so expensive, living on-campus is the best you can hope for. Prices are between 70-90 pounds per week, and you cannot find a decent accomodation for less than twice that much! Also, living at a student hall provides you the means to meet other students.
Personal comments:
Don't expect to get any value for monet. This is just an apsect of life in London you have to accept. If you can, go for accomodation in an inter-collegiate hall of residence (and not an Imperial College one) - chances to meet more people. STUDENT LIFE
by Yoav, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London, United Kingdom
Engineering, Computer, Independent
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Personal comments:
London has many excellent places to spend your free time (you won't have much at Imperial). Just go and explore it. There is everything to suit every need and every budget. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Family Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Most things cost twice as much (even if my home town is expensive as well). Exannge rates for Euro - Pound are bad at the moment. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Accomodation and travelling is really expensive in London. Most times I took my bicycle, so could save some money (a weekly travecard for the underground costs a least 15 Pounds) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
No In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
I really liked it - especially the group I was working in was great (Liquid Crystals Reasearch Group at the Department of Chemistry). I could do my research there independent, which was a new and interesting experience for me (in germany we are normally supervised by a PhD student) FINAL COMMENTS
I think my time in London was the best time of my studies. The only really annoying thing was to find accomodation. The best to find a flatshare is to look in the Internet on the "Student contact list" on the page of the University of London Accomodation Office.
