HOUSING
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Prefer living in shared appartments. It's nice to have both flatmates and a possibility to have your own peace and quiet time.
Personal comments:
Staff at IPAG were very helpful and gave us great advice. They also recommended the agency that we rented the flat from.

Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
There are many nice cafes and restaurants along the cours saleya in the old town and along rue massena closer to the high street. Most of the nice pubs and bars can be found in the old town. Places like Wayne's, MacMahon's and Thor are very popular with foreigners. Locals prefer more French places such as the l'escalier and les trois diables. The l'ambassade, le club and dizzy are nice clubs with a great atmosphere. The beach and the promenade are great places for outdoor sports like rollerblading, jogging, swimming, volleyball etc. There are many events in Nice all year round. One not to miss is His Majesty's Carnival in February with its massive parades, bonfires and fireworks.

No, it wasn't.
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang)
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
How much did you improve your French?
My level before: Basic phrases
My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
Personal comments:
It was actually quite hard in the beginning to learn or practice the local language as most of the teaching was in English and all class mates were international students who spoke English. However, with the help of French classes, French friends, by getting involved in the local life and with some effort I managed to improve my language skills and was able to communicate also in French.
