Personal recommendation
For me it was a great experience and I can only recommend it. If you are doing a year abroad this university should definitely be on your list. Internationals are always welcome there, you don't experience as much bureaucratic difficulties as you do in other countries and you meet a lot of really nice people. If you would like to know more, you are welcome to contact me.

Bonne université

Overall

Good University

I really recommend Jonkoping university if you are an international student. It is a good place to go if don't want to study that hard and just want to have fun and travel.

However, the housing administration is extremely disorganized. People who work there can be very petty and unfair when it comes to anything related to accommodation. Dorms are a bit dirty and they take ages to fix anything. I had a bad time trying to reach them.

If you do an exchange program there be prepared to be friends with other international students but no friends with the actual Swedish people.

Good enough

While it's not officially a University, it was enough and for many others to study in. I've learnt a lot from this time, and the campus is located at such a nice location. The campus is located very central to the small town of jonkoping, and you can reach the centrum in just 5 minutes of walking.

The surroundings is a small, quiet and tidy town. It's quite beautful too so you won't get depressed.

Personal comments
You can choose to let the JIBS arrange your housing for you. This offer is especially attractive for non-European students. The university mainly assigns students into the two housing facilities stationed in Raslatt and Dalvik. In general, you can ask the university staff to choose a housing for you in accordance with your own preferences (cost, space, facilities etc.)and you will find these people very friendly and helpful. If you are more the one for partying the whole night, then you may choose Raslatt, if you prefer spacious housing with own facilities then you better choose Dalvik. Both Raslatt and Dalvik have a good transport connection: you can reach the university within 6-15 minutes by bus.
