HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? There's really no place else to live! Besides, it's the best way to meet Brit people.
Personal comments:
We shared 30 students to one kitchen, and almost everyone cooks for themselves. It gets a little messy, but somone comes in to clean about 4 days a week. I had a single room, my block mates were pretty friendly. High speed internet, no wireless, and there's a bar and a grocery type store within walking distance, no matter where you live. STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Personal comments:
Keele is in a village (a pub, a church, and a handful of cottages). Luckily, it's really easy to get out a travel, and you're in the middle of the country, so nothing is too far away. Students are ALWAYS ready to party, so if you like the campus life, you'll find friends here. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
If you're from a large uni, you'll be surprised by how little choice you have in your field of study. However, the classes are good, and all the teachers are used to having international students. I've not yet had a problem.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
If you're not used to the UK style of assessment, it's a shock. One essay and one test decides your entire grade- a bit nerve racking! It's a small uni- so don't expect it to have the same access to resources and diversity of classes. But it does it's job! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
I already knew quite a lot before entering the host country, at least compared to many other international students, but I learned a lot during the three years as well This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Personal savings A private grant Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
Expect EVERYTHING (except for alcohol) to be twice as expensive as in the USA. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Be prepared to cook your own meals here. Travel like crazy, despite what you think you'll be able to afford. Better to be in debt than spend all your time on campus. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
How much free time I was going to have, how difficult it would be to schedule my classes. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It's a nice little Uni, and if you're flexible and have the right attitude, you'll have a blast. If you want it to be just like an American college, stay at home. FINAL COMMENTS
