HOUSING
by NADIA, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom
Financial Management, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? The arrangement offered personal indepence and granted life experience outwith a parental/family entity. Provided the opportunity to interact with other foreign students
Personal comments:
The accomodation was not offered by the host university but by a seperate organisation - no residency existed. The accomodation was student orientated in terms of facilities and situation. Effort was made to ensure both owners and lodgers were satisfied. Personally, I was close to all ammenities, the university & city centre. The flat was spacious, clean & provided the necessary conveniences. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It give you the opportunity to be independent and to experience living separate from the University. Also it gives you the opportunity to live with native (italian) people and therefore helps with your integration into the culture and language improvement.
Personal comments:
The flat that i lived in was private accomodation, therefore had nothing to do with the university. However, it was close to campus, in a great area, i couldn't have asked for more on that front. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal assessment
Type of housing: room
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I shared the appartment with two other Italian girls and hence greatly improved my Italian. It was great fun!
Personal comments:
The accomodation is not arranged directly via the university but by an intermediary person who finds rooms for the ERASMUS students. This service is very convenient and without costs. The available rooms, on the other hand, are very costly. But, that is Rome! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? Living in a flat was largely the only possibility, but I recommend sharing with Italians for language purposes.
Personal comments:
Help offered through the CTS organisation. I took up their offer, but the Erasmus flat was expensive (€460, bills aside), brown and although central for town, a 45 minute tram journey from the university. I therefore moved to cheaper, nearer accommodation with Italians using www.affittistudenti.it. for €360 all bills included. I had large, single rooms, but communal facilities in both were mediocre and (to my surprise) had an 86 year old live in landlady at the second flat. No one lived ideally, but I didn't see anything that was uningabitable. It's very difficult to find somewhere near LUISS with Italians at a good price. NB Electricity is very expensive & most boilers are electric. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

I was in a flat at 20 min from university on foot. Near the metropolitan and main buses. Small flat with double rooms (because of the high prices!). Great experience! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
