HOUSING
by kkaluza, Norwegian School of Management BI, Oslo, Norway

Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because sharing facilities is good in the beginning for socialising and making friends, but is I shared kitchen bathroom etc with 15 people and that is a bit much. An appartment with a couple of friends would be nice if I were to go back.
Personal comments:
I was disapointed when I first saw the place. Just a room (15m2) with old ugly furniture. But i was the cheapest place and quite central, and the international housing office did not bother that much about how late we partied etc. A good place to start of. STUDENT LIFE
by louise, University of Newcastle, Newcastle, United Kingdom
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The majority of night life is organised by the university into 'nation' of which there are thirteen. All these are different in their own way but the most popular were VastGöta on wednesdays and Hallands on fridays. Not to be missed. There are also other bars in Lund such as cafe ariman and hercules which always had a great atmosphere on the weekends. However for the cheapest night out, nations were the best. ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
There are not many lectures a week, which is good if you are an exchange student because it gives you opportunities to travel, think of this when you choose courses
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Make different entry requirements to the different courses. Like have to have had an introduction to marketing course before taking cybermarketing, not have to have studied business administration for a year. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
An exchange program is, according to me, the best way to improve a language. Of course the official language of Sweden is ... Swedish. But "native swedish" people speak perferct English. And English is THE official language between international students. It is amazing how this language can unite people ! I think the area in which you improve the most is the understanding. Now I can easily communicate in English with native people, which was not the case before. An everyday life in a foreign language is also the best way to learn plenty of new words day after day. EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Government assistance An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I expend more in some categories because the prices are higher in Sweden than in Spain. Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
Is quite cheap to eat in the "Nations" and the food is good. If you want to save money buy in Netto (supermarket). The alcohol is really expensive and you can only buy it in a Special shop from the goverment called "System Bolaguet" This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I am really aware of how the culture is and the way everything is done, so I think I had all the basic information. In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
If you want to go to Lund I recommend you not to get crazy with the weather, Be prepared to see a new way of communicating and socializing and always be open minded. People are very nice as long as you are too, but you must have patience to gain their confidence. It is a great university and they offer you a lot of facilities. FINAL COMMENTS
Try to get a place to live as soon as possible and bring with you a lot of warm clothes. However, always remember to bring something for the rain if you come in winter, that is what you will probably see the most. Get a JoJo Card for public transport, since you cannot move around with the bus without it. But even more essential is to get a bike very soon and secure it well. Bikes are your most valuable object in Lund, and they get stolen really easily. And... learn to love coffe!! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
